The inner brown corrugated cardboard packing box slides out, and unfolds to reveal the contents: the MessagePad 130, 4 flopping discs (one for Windows, one for Mac) the Newton Apple MessagePad Handbook and other documents (11 in total) and a cable to attach to a computer. It also has a flip top top, which opens to reveal more detailed descriptions of the capabilities of the message pad. The packaging is also beautifully designed, with an outer casing in thin cardboard printed with pictures illustrating the major features of the MessagePad, instructions, logos, etc. Newton Backup Utility, and cables for Macintosh and Windows PCs." The stylus (telescoping pen) fits inside the top of the message pad.Ī circular red sticker has been removed from the MessagePad. Four slender rubber feet are on each corner of the base. A rubber cover opens to reveal the plug for the cord. On the back, a click-out cover for 4 AA batteries, and on the sides are several switches, one opening with a finger nail slot to reveal a tray for a Newton disc. At the top on the right hand side, near the hinge for the lid, a small black button flush to the machine, when pressed releases a black matte rod pull gently and the retractable stylus appears. Summary instructions are printed in white on the back of the opening flap. At the bottom of the yellowish screen 6 logos (with names) and one up/down arrow are listed: Names, Dates, Extras, Undo, Find, Assist. ![]() The multicoloured Apple logo appears below the lid, centred, with MessagePad 130 printed just above the press button which releases the flip-top lid to reveal the screen. Physical Description The MessagePad 130 has a matte black plastic case, with a removable flip-top lid which opens to reveal the screen.
